Dear Tyler,

Hi my sweet son! How are you doing on this Saturday night? Mom is doing alright but I have been pretty sad all day long. Last night I had noticed that our cousin had posted that her daughter got brought to the ER at Valley. Mom had gone to bed shortly after that post because it was after 10 pm. This morning when I got up I noticed another post saying that her daughter got transported to DHMC during the evening. She was admitted to the Pedi Oncology/Hematology ward. Our cousin had stated that she would be there for a week or perhaps longer so that her daughter could get antibiotics and blood transfusions. Later this morning a post was made that the doctors were thinking that she could have Leukemia. Nothing was said after that for a few hours but when Mom looked there was a new one and indeed her daughter was diagnosed with Acute B Lymphoblastic  Leukemia which is a childhood blood cancer. It affects the T Cells and B Cells in the blood. She was diagnosed with the worst kind. No prognosis has been given at this time for her and our cousin is being pretty quiet right now....rightfully so. It is never easy to hear the words "You have cancer" and it is not easy to be the parent of the child who has been diagnosed. There is absolutely nothing that can be done and the parents have to sit and watch their child go through it all. It is every much heartbreaking. Mom has reached out to her and told her that we are here if she needs anything at all. Mom made a post herself asking for a prayer chain for them both. It just brings back so much for Mom. I was pretty quiet most of the day and I cleaned out my office and the closet. I took my time and kept busy. Mark was preoccupied doing his own thing so it all worked out. Mom started at 11 am and got done at 3:30 pm. I got ready after and then fed the pups and made dinner for us. It is now after 8 pm. Mom just wanted to write you a quick letter before I sit down and relax the rest of the evening before going to bed. This is the first and only time that I have turned my computer on today. I will be turning it off right after too. Mom had the chance of chatting with Grandpa and Debbie briefly tonight before their phone needed to be charged. I told them I would call them tomorrow night to chat longer. I will touch base with Meme as well. Mark and I will be going out for part of the morning but will be back tomorrow afternoon so I will write you another letter then. I will have more updates for you as well. I hope that your evening is everything that you need and want it to be. Come sit next to me tonight so that I can get a good night sleep or visit me in my dreams if you can. Thank you my sweet precious son. I miss you so much and I love you to the moon and back and all the way around the world. You are my hero and the wind beneath my wings. Forever you live inside my heart, mind, body and soul. Mom is going to go relax now. Until tomorrow comes....good night and sweet dreams. Please watch over us. Thank you pumpkin.
 Always, Mommy xoxoxo. Muah!

Here is the prayer of the day:

And he said, “My presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.” Exodus 33:14, RSV
Dear Father in heaven, we thank you for guiding us on all our ways with power from on high. We thank you that again and again you have led us through the darkness on a path of light. Looking back, we cannot be thankful enough. May our hearts turn to you and be filled with quiet certainty in all we are still awaiting. Remember us and remember the many who lie under heavy bondage. Let the time come when you will bring a great deliverance to those who are in darkness. Then we can find meaning for our lives in all that happens, knowing that you have been faithful in everything. You have done more than we asked, more than we can understand. Amen.
