Hi pumpkin! How are you doing on this Sunday afternoon? Today is March 17th and it is St. Patrick's Day. Today also marks the 30th year that Pepe gained his angel wings and was called home to Heaven. I remember that day like it was yesterday. Mom was in school when Meme came there to tell me that he passed in the hospital that morning. No matter the time that goes by it still hurts and one never stops grieving for the loss of their loved ones ever. I am glad that Meme was here so I could spend some of the day with her. She surprised Mom this morning and said Happy St. Patrick's Day from Pepe. She handed me an envelope and inside was a Irish Rosary that has all green small stones and each one has a shamrock etched in it and the cross says Erin on the back. I put it around my cross that I have had since I was a child. I also have one of your rosary beads that you had around it as well. I thought that was the most precious gift. Mom is going to do some research on it to see how old it is as Meme did not know off hand.
Yesterday was a fun day. Meme, Bob, Grandpa and Debbie got here around 10:15 am. Funny story.... Mom had called earlier to see where they were and to let them know to just use my code to get in instead of calling so that the pups would not bark. When they got in here they were all laughing because they went into our neighbors apartment next door. They remembered the door where it was in the old building and went to that one. We all got a huge laugh out of that. They walked in and saw the decor was not ours and they slowly got out of the apartment and closed the door and cam into ours. Can you imagine? I bet you are laughing so hard right now. I know we were. When that was all settled everyone said hello and sat and had some coffee and muffins and we just visited for a bit. We decided around 12 noon to head to the mall for Debbie. We went to 3 or 4 stores and thought we would eat at the Cheesecake Factory but the wait was over 40 minutes so we decided to go somewhere else. We ended up at the Clam Box. We were there for about 1.5 hours and then we came back home. We lounged around and chatted, waited for groceries to show up, put them away, ordered pizza and we played poker until 9:30 pm. After that we got everyone set for bed and Meme and Bob went to sleep while Grandpa and Debbie stayed up and watched TV for a bit. Mom called it a night at 11 pm. I don't think anyone really slept because Bob snored, Mark snored and Grandpa kept kicking Debbie in his sleep. What a mess...lol. We were all up between 6 am and 7 am this morning. Grandpa slept in until 9:30 am. Mom took Meme and Debbie to go get our nails done and we got back at 12 noon. We visited for the rest of the time, Mom played a game of cribbage with Bob and then Grandpa and then lunch arrived. They all left shortly after so that they could beat the traffic going home. Mom cleaned after that. I did the laundry, cleaned the bathrooms, did the garbage, mopped and vacuumed. After I finish this letter to you I am going to go rest for a bit before it is time to feed the pups dinner and then call it a very early night. Mom starts school in the morning and Mark is on conference calls all day long. Mom sure hopes that you get to celebrate St. Patrick's Day with everyone up there in Heaven. I hope Pepe gets to have his green beer like he always did on this day every year! Please give him a big hug and kiss from Mom. Thank you my sweet precious son.
The weather today was nice and sunny. Blue skies and the temp was 52 degrees at noon. What a good weekend for everyone to come down for a visit. I guess they will all be back at Easter time which is a month from now. If they don't come down then we will go up there. That is the weekend after Mark gets back from Texas. It will be a crazy 2 weeks that is for sure. It could be crazier depending on how things go. Time will tell on that one! Mom hopes that you have a good evening tonight. Hope you do everything that you need and want to do. Come be with Mom and sit next to me or visit me in my dreams tonight if you can. I will whisper to you later so smile for me and I will smile for you. I will also light a candle for you and Pepe tonight. I miss you and I love you to the moon and back and all the way around the world. You are my hero and the wind beneath my wings. Forever you live inside my heart, mind, body and soul. Mom will be back tomorrow with another letter to you so until then.... good night and sweet dreams tonight.
Always, Mommy xoxoxo. Muah!
Here is the daily prayer for today:
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” John 8:31–32, NIV
Dear Father in heaven, grant that we may come to you in the Spirit. Through your Spirit gather us and many others on earth around our Lord Jesus Christ, the great Savior of humankind. May our hearts become truly free because you deliver us from all bondage to our own natures and to the world around us. As free people may we be led safely through distress, fear, and want, through need and death. May we become happy children whom Jesus Christ has called to life, children who are not discouraged by the struggle but who fight joyfully for your kingdom until it can be revealed to all the world. Amen.
