Hi my sweet son! Happy Thanksgiving in Heaven again this year. This makes the 6th one without you. Time doesn't make it any easier that is for sure. Today just feels like a Sunday to Mark and I and that is okay. The weather is brutally cold but the sun is out and the skies are blue. The sun will be setting in about an hour so Mom wanted to make sure that I got your letter done before it got dark.
Mom was up early this morning. I fed the pups and got breakfast and fresh coffee brewed for Mark. He slept in until 9 am. He really needed it so that was nice to see. We watched the Macy's parade and then got out of bed. We both got ready and made all the calls to our families. Meme called first thing this morning. We spoke for about 30 minutes and then Aunt Beck called. I was suppose to call her around 1 pm but she said that she would not hear her phone so she called where she was cooking. I was hoping to talk to Bean but guess that isn't going to happen. It's been 6 months since we spoke. How sad is that? Mom called Grandpa and Debbie. She was cooking their turkey dinner while we talked. If the weather is good then everyone will be coming down here next weekend. That will be fun and exciting. They get the chance to see the new apartment. I am hoping that the weather is good. My fingers are crossed. Mark got to chat with his 2 brothers and a couple of his buddies. We tried calling his Dad and Karen but we had to leave a message. Maybe we will try again tonight. Mom was able to prep our dinner early today. I just finished it up so that around 4 pm I can preheat the oven, make the biscuits and then we can eat by 5 pm. Tonight will be a night of watching Christmas movies and going to bed early because tomorrow we are headed out to go shopping in the super mad rush...the biggest shopping day of the year! Mark is not happy but Mom is....lol! I don't mind the longer lines or the crowds but Mark does. I am sure we won't be out for long at all. All of our family is really doing nothing. Debbie went to work today, Grandpa is staying home because it is so cold outside, Meme and Bob were going to try and go up to West Leb to do some shopping but that is about it. I think Aunt Beck is the one who is spending time with family today. Mark's side is all with family for the most part. His younger brother is on the road headed back to California. He has been driving from Kentucky to California for the last 4 days. Like Mom said the Holidays are no longer the same as they were when you were with us. Those days are long gone sadly enough. Mom is doing alright for the most part. I am really trying not to think about it at all. I am tricking myself into thinking it is Sunday because we are watching football...lol. Detroit Lions are playing against Chicago Bears and they are winning and the next game is the Cowboys against the Redskins. I sure hope they win today! We shall see though! Mom is going to call Aunt Shirley in a bit to say hello. Other than that the rest of the afternoon into the evening will be just relaxing, snuggled up on the couch with Mark and the pups. Just the way I want it. Mom has had the candle burning for you all morning and it looks like a new one will need to be started either tomorrow or over the weekend. Mom will whisper to you later tonight so smile for me and I will smile back to you. I sure miss you like crazy. I love you to the moon and back and all the way around the world. You are my superhero and the wind beneath my wings. Forever you are in my heart, mind, body and soul. Please give all our family, pets and friends hugs from Mom today and an extra one to little Baxter. I still remember what happened to him today even if it was almost 10 years ago. Thank you my sweet precious son. Mom will be back tomorrow with another letter to you. I am going to go relax now. Have fun tonight while I get some sleep. Come visit if you can. Have fun celebrating Thanksgiving wherever you may be. Until tomorrow comes....good night and sweet dreams. I love you.
Always, Mommy xoxoxo. Muah!
Here is the prayer for the day:
Be patient, then, my brothers, until the Lord comes. See how patient a farmer is as he waits for his land to produce precious crops. He waits patiently for the autumn and spring rains. James 5:7, TEV
Lord Jesus, hear our prayer and reveal your hand in our days. May those things be done that bring your future nearer and that let the world see you as the Savior who can lead us to our Father. Bless your Word within us. May our hearts be strengthened, and may we always live in your presence. We draw our life from your Word, from your promise, and we set our hope on you, our Lord and Savior. Show your might, Lord Jesus, and carry out the will of God over all the world, so that we may rejoice when we see God's glory appear and his will being done on earth as in heaven. Amen.
